Friday I had an impulse to buy hair dye. Upon good recommendation from a hair stylist that works at Sally’s, I bought the Ion Semi-Permanent Red Hair dye. BIG. FUCKING. MISTAKE.
I dyed my hair, and it turned magenta. FUCKING MAGENTA.
I’m not allowed to have bright colors like that at work, and you could tell the managers were none too pleased about my vibrant pink locks my next shift. So I go back to the store to see if there’s anything I can do to fix it. They tell me there’s really nothing aside from possibly bleaching it. One of the employees had the same problem with Ion’s semi-permanent teal hair dye. She suggested using Dawn dish soap and baking powder. So I went home and gave that a try. I did about six washes, give or take a few. A large majority of the brightness came out, but definitely not all of it, especially in the bangs. Instead, it turned into a cherry blossom pink.
So I went to Sally’s again and bought some bleach, which I’m using on my hair right now. Bits of it are coming out, but I can only imagine how long I’m going to be sitting here damaging my hair with bleach because of this stupid hair dye.
Don’t use Ion hair dye.
